The Next Generation of Window & Door Installations
BASF has helped Pflüger TOB GmbH to develop a new generation of "passive" window and door installations.
Pflüger TOB GmbH which is based in Obersteinach, Germany, is offering a new generation of window sill connection and substructure insulation profiles, together with frame extensions made from BASF's Kerdyn®Green FST structural foam.
The new structural foam meets material Class B2 requirements and is noted for its high compressive strength, good screw extraction values, high-temperature and chemicals resistance - which means it is compatible with a large number of adhesive and sealant systems.
With very low thermal conductivity, Kerdyn® Green FST is perfectly suited for use in window and door profiles in "passive" houses (in Germany Passivhaus is used to refer to a rigorous, voluntary energy efficiency standard used in construction), and additionally boasts a low water absorption rate of under 2 per cent.
The high-performance polyethylene terephthalate (PET) material is also easily recycled at the end of its life cycle to support environmental sustainability.
Kerdyn® Green FST can be processed in two different densities (115 kg/m3 and 180 kg/m3) and is supplied in thicknesses of between 5mm and 120 mm. Maximum panel size is 1005mm x 2440mm.
Kerdyn®
High-quality PET structural foams offer extraordinarily good mechanical properties and are suitable for many different processing operations and as composite materials on account of their high temperature and chemicals resistance.
