The British Property Federation (BPF) is inviting expressions of interest from across its membership for a new Board appointment for the first time in its history.
The move follows the first meeting of what the federation describes as a "new look" board on Tuesday, and its restatement of a commitment made in 2017 to promote a more diverse and inclusive property industry in the United Kingdom.
In addition to new Junior Vice President, Guy Grainger (EMEA Chief Executive at JLL), the most recent appointments have included:
Discussing the need for more diversity, Melanie Leech, BPF chief executive, said:
"As the voice of the real estate industry we have committed to play our part in promoting a culture of equality and inclusion within our industry.
This means ensuring that our governance aligns with our values, and we now have a more diverse board than at any time in the BPF’s history.
"However, we recognise we can go further.
That is why we are today inviting expressions of interest from BPF members who would like to join the BPF Board.
We are excited to see who from the industry will step up to help lead the BPF through the next stage of its journey."
New Board member, Harvin Chohan, said:
"I am honoured to be appointed to join the BPF Board and I look forward to representing the next generation of real estate leaders, working collectively alongside fellow Board members to shape a real estate sector that promotes a culture of equality and inclusion."
Jonathan Murphy added:
