Inspiration in HR

Integrated UK security, cleaning, front-of-house and support services provider Axis Group has won an "Inspiration in HR" award at this year’s Security and Fire Excellence Awards.

A key factor informing Axis' selection for the award was the company's' People Strategy' which was introduced in 2015 and is dedicated to maintaining a happy and fulfilled workforce with the ultimate goal of transforming the group into an '‘employer of choice".

The strategy is implemented and monitored through regular employee surveys and questionnaires, social media engagement, Institute of Customer Service reporting and, critically, the Axis Academy - which provides training for in-house as well as customer employees.

Axis also offers counselling, and provides employees with dedicated health and financial wellbeing support - initiative that have been credited with raising the group's staff retention rate by 20 per cent during the last four years.

Naomi Austen, HR and Learning Director at Axis Group, says:

“We have spent considerable time and resource building new offerings, implementing new ideas and benefits, designing new CSR programmes and developing a training Academy, with the overall aim to improve employee engagement.

"This has proven to be hugely worthwhile as we have seen our employee engagement scores increase annually.

The HR and Learning teams at Axis work tirelessly to make a difference, and I am extremely proud of their achievements.

"We have a duty of care to our people and our clients.

If we treat our people well then clients will see this.

Clients are constantly looking for a company that they believe is always going to push forward and challenge the norm.

This, I believe, is us and can only be achieved by dedication from a committed team."

Axis Group subsidiary, Axis Security, was a finalist in four other award categories, including "Security Guarding Company of the Year" and "Security Training Initiative of the Year".
