Daikin Sponsoring 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference (Chicago, May 15-18)

Daikin Europe is a key sponsor of the 14th IEA Heat Pump Conference at The Renaissance Chicago Downtown from 15th to 18th May, which will discuss the theme "Heat pumps, driven by renewable power sources, are the key technical solution for challenges the building sector is facing".

In a keynote address to delegates of the triennial event, Patrick Crombez, the company's general manager, will explain the role of investors in different parts of the heat pump value chain, and also offer insights into the latest developments in technology.

Heat pumps as a solution for challenges faced by the building sector

To achieve long-term climate and energy goals, renewed focus on renewable energy in heating and cooling applications is needed, combined with large-scale refurbishment and renovation of existing buildings and industrial infrastructure.

The conference will serve as a forum to discuss the latest technologies in heat pumps and exchange valuable knowledge in related topics.

Why Europe is a model for the global adoption of air-to-water heat pumps?

By sponsoring the event, Daikin Europe aims to educate and inform industry associations, manufacturers, and policymakers about the key role of air-to-water (or "hydronic") heat pumps in meeting environmental goals, and how they have the European Commission's Green Deal and Fit for 55 plans have accelerated their implementation across Europe.

After experiencing growth in demand of 43 per cent between 2021 and 2022, Daikin expects demand to grow further - reaching 10 million hydronic heat pumps annually by 2030.

Crombez tells FM Industry: "In 2021 we started the investments to upscale our production capacity in three existing factories in Europe: Germany, Belgium, and the Czech Republic.

In addition, we will open a new factory in Poland in 2024.

"This is part of a wider growth plan, that includes the creation of a pan-European installer network to support installer development and secure quality and safety.

"With these investments, we aim to inspire not only the US market, but regions around the world and convince them of the vital role heat pumps play to fight climate change.

We all need to step up a notch, together.”
