Letters: The Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Bill
Claire Campbell, co-head of Consultancy at UK social enterprise Timewise, comments on the news that a private member's bill to give greater job security to workers with unpredictable working patterns has received Royal Assent.
The Workers (Predictable Terms and Conditions) Bill is a private member's bill sponsored by Baroness Anderson of Stoke-on-Trent (Labour). The bill would give workers with a lack of predictability surrounding their working patterns, such as workers on zero hours contracts, a legal right to request a change in their terms and conditions. It was first introduced in the House of Commons and received cross-party support. Now, it has attained Royal Assent.

You may remember our pilot from 2021 with Skanska, BAM Nuttal, BAM Construct & Willmott Dixon, which we conducted in partnership with Build UK. All our partners continued with the flexible practices we introduced in the trial.
