The European Organisation for the Exploration of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) has awarded a new contract to Serco for the provision of data centre and associated IT environment and infrastructure management services.
The commitment extends to 5 years including extensions, and will see Serco responsible for system administration support to desktops and Microsoft applications, as well as activities at the data centre.
Specific service activities will include routine operation and maintenance of existing infrastructure, and evolving and enhancing the EUMETSAT IT environment to meet the organisation's future needs.
Serco already provides first- and second-level IT Service Desk services to EUMETSAT.
With the addition of the new IT Data Centre and Infrastructure Service, the company will also provide third line and back-end support, covering the full range of services from help desk resolution and service desk delivery to in-depth technical support and expert product and service support.
