Recycled Plastic Gloves at British Sugar Sites

EMCOR UK is adopting gloves made from recycled plastic at the sites it operates under its facilities management contract with British Sugar following a trial which found them to be more durable than standard gloves.

Each pair of Polyflex ECO gloves contains 10 grams of plastic from recycled bottles, reducing reliance on virgin materials used for production, including oil-based polyester.

Steve Thomson, account director, says: "We were delighted with the trial of the Polyflex ECO gloves, which wearers reported as more durable, as well as more comfortable than, the previous gloves.

"They are also more sustainable but no more expensive."

Colin Moffett, a spokesperson for glove manufacturer, Polyco Healthline, says: “We are committed to introducing innovative products that are environmentally friendly.

Our Polyflex Eco range of gloves sets new standards for dexterity and is better for the environment."
