IBM Watson AI to Revolutionise SAP Solutions with Deep Integration

SAP has announced that it will integrate IBM's Watson AI technology into its solutions platform to offer users new insights and automation of the user experience.

The move will see SAP use IBM Watson capabilities to power its digital assistant in SAP Start, a unified entry point for cloud solutions from SAP.

With AI capabilities designed to help users boost productivity using natural language and predictive insights based on IBM Watson AI solutions, the integration promises a better user experience, faster decision-making, and greater insights for SAP customers.

The incorporation of additional AI, machine learning, and other intelligent technologies into SAP solutions can lead to better business outcomes for joint customers.

“This milestone collaboration with IBM aims to provide SAP customers with a better user experience, faster decision-making, and greater insights to help transform their business processes,” says Christian Klein, CEO and Member of the Executive Board of SAP SE. “Today’s news, along with the recent announcement of our expanded use of Red Hat Enterprise Linux, is a prime example of how the rich, 50-year partnership between our companies continues to grow stronger and move the industry forward.”

The new AI capabilities in SAP Start will be extended across SAP solutions to help answer diverse questions for managers and employees, automating and speeding up common tasks, and unlocking employee productivity to focus on more strategic work.

SAP and IBM are also collaborating on generative AI and large language models aimed at delivering consistent continuous learning and automation based on SAP’s mission-critical application suite.

IBM delivers AI capabilities with Watson products deployed by more than 100 million users across 20 industries, while SAP and IBM Consulting are supporting customers with 25 joint intelligent industry solutions that use IBM Watson capabilities underpinned by SAP Business Technology Platform (SAP BTP).

These industry solutions help customers across industries such as retail, manufacturing, and utilities accelerate their business transformation and use data to make more informed decisions.

According to both companies, integrating IBM Watson AI technology with the SAP platform will provide businesses with new and innovative ways of leveraging AI's transformative power to provide competitive advantage.
