A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between ASHRAE and the GCC Standardization Organization (GSO) formalises initiatives to implement globally recognised standards for sustainable building design and operations across all six Gulf Cooperation Member countries and the Yemen.
The terms of the MoU include the following objectives:

The MoU with ASHRAE will support the establishment of cooperative and constructive working relationships, as well as improved communication and coordination in many areas of mutual interest, and will also contribute positively to the objective previously stated by GCC Member States and the GSO of 'advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment'; with a focus on building systems, and promoting energy efficiency, indoor air quality and sustainability within the industry.
