Design in Brief: Creating a Base for San Diego’s First All-Electric Fire Apparatus

The Miller Hull Partnership's latest civic project, Fire Station 52 in San Diego, is the firm’s first fire station outside the Pacific Northwest and the first in the region to house all-electric fire apparatus.

Setting a precedent for public safety and sustainable infrastructure, the development is located in the Torrey Pines area and focuses on a 14,500-square-foot facility.

The envelope is highly efficient, and material selection was guided by a low-carbon ethos, supporting the City of San Diego's emissions reduction targets. {"className":""}

It addresses a growing service need while supporting San Diego’s Climate Action Plan with low-carbon systems and on-site renewable energy.

This zoning ensures that potentially carcinogenic materials brought back on PPE, tools, and vehicles are isolated and safely managed.{"className":""}
