The National Environment Agency (NEA) of Singapore has issued a waste treatment plant operated by Veolia with the country's first licence authorising treatment of firefighting foams containing PFAS.
Veolia offers high-temperature thermal treatment of PFAS-based firefighting foams under its innovative BeyondPFAS programme, and will additionally support Singapore with environmental and waste initiatives aimed at phasing out other firefighting foams containing PFOA, PFOS and PFHxS from 1st January 2026.
The BeyondPFAS programme represent a breakthrough in the treatment of targeted PFAS.
From 1st January 2026, all companies storing or using fire-fighting foams containing PFOA, PFOS, PFHxS, their salts and related compounds at or above their respective statutorily defined threshold concentrations are required to engage Toxic Industrial Waste Collectors (TIWCs) holding an NEA license to collect and dispose of such AFFF.
Veolia’s licensed facility will therefore play a key role in offering compliant, safe and proven disposal pathways for these substances.

With this license, Veolia positions itself as a key partner to industries seeking compliant, sustainable, and affordable solutions for managing PFAS waste in the region.
