NOK 2.1 Billion (£168.5 Million) Armed Forces Cleaning Contract for ISS
The Norwegian Armed Forces have signed a contract with ISS Norway to handle cleaning on approximately one million square meters of the Armed Forces' property in Norway. The contract will commence 1 May 2016 and will run until 2023. The financial scope of the contract is up to NOK 2.1 billion (£168.5 million) for the seven year period.
ISS Norway was one of 15 companies that competed in the tender process for the contract. The contract entails a geographical division of properties that need cleaning, and ISS Norway won the competition in all ten geographical regions. The new partnership means that ISS Norway will become a provider of cleaning services nationwide.
"ISS is probably Norway's most professional supplier of cleaning services. We are very satisfied with the agreement, and the fact that everyone who works with cleaning for Norway's Armed Forces is secure in their job working under ISS Norway from 1 May this year," said Colonel Steinar Hannestad from the Defence Staff.
More than 300 employees who have been employed with Norway's Armed Forces are offered to keep the same job with ISS Norway as their employer, when the contract begins.
In order to safeguard employees who are approaching retirement age, the Ministry of Defense has decided to create a separate department for the approximately 60 employees older than 60 years, who will continue to be employed by the Armed Forces until their retirement.
Country Manager of ISS Norway, Hans John Øiestad, commented on the contract win:
"The agreement with the Armed Forces is one of ISS Norway's largest contracts, and we look forward to a productive collaboration with a very professional partner."
