Retail developer Immochan Ukraine exhibits at City Evolution

Company announces plans for a chain of mied-use retail, leisure and entertainment developments accross the Ukraine.

Retail developer, Immochan Ukraine (a subsidiary of the Auchan Group), exhibited at the City Evolution real estate exhibition which took place in the city of Kyiv, Ukraine, from 14-15 October.

The company outlined its plans for the period to 2016 and discussed its Rose Park shopping centre project which will be one of the largest mixed-use retail, leisure and entertainment complexes in Donetsk Oblast (a large province in South-Eastern Ukraine) when it is completed in the first half of 2014.

Rose Park, the second retail development by the company which has operated a hypermarket in Donetsk Oblast since 2008, is currently under construction. The company announced it has secured tenants for 85% of available shoping space (or 25,845 square metres).

In September and October Rose Park signed new leases with: SPRINGFIELD, Women Secret, Intertop, Ecco, Pandora, as well as new anchor tenant, MANGO MEGASTORE (the first retailer in the Ukraine that will offer menswear, womenswear and childrenswear collections).

"The shopping mall has attracted brands that will satisfy the tastes and requirements of the region's residents. We undertook thorough market research and actively developed partnerships with retail operators who were active in the Ukrainian market, since our goal is to provide a unique brand concept", said Ilya Sazhin, leasing director of Immochan Ukraine.

Next year the company will begin construction of a third retail centre which is expected to open in phases between 2015 and 2016, on the left bank of Kyiv (the capital of Ukraine).

Immochan Ukraine also announced it is planning to construct a hypermarket and shopping mall in the Black Sea port city of Odessa with an expected 2016 opening date. The company says the plan is to develop a landmark project occupying more than 50,000 square metires.

Anna Koriagina, director of the Rose Park development, delivered a presentation on property certification for leaseholders which focused on BREEAM environmental certification. She shared her experience of working on a "green" lease agreement in the Ukraine.

On the second day of the exhibition, Philip Beurtheret, director of Immochan Ukraine and Michelle Zhalats, chief executive of the Ukrainian Council of Shopping Centres (ICSC), jointly hosted a meeting which discussed the expansion of ICSC to include commercial real estate developers. "Participation in the organisation would represent a great opportunity for the Ukrainian real estate market both to learn about best practice from companies such as ours which have global experience, and to tell foreign investors, tenants and contractors about the development potential in our country", said Philip Beurtheret.

Immochan Ukraine also received an award for innovation in developing the Rose Park complex.
