UK Universities Leading the Way for Britain's Electric Vehicle Future

New Research by intelligentcarleasing.com reveals UK Universities are storming ahead of average UK ownership figures for electric vehicles.
0.11 per cent of all new vehicle registrations in 2013 were for purely electric vehicles. However, a Freedom of Information survey of 116 universities across the country has revealed 7.73 per cent of all university-owned vehicles are purely electric powered - elevating average electric vehicle ownership within university fleets to an impressive 7,073 per cent above the national registered average!
Of the 114 institutions that responded to the survey, 58.77 per cent owned at least 1 electric vehicle which is a very high adoption rate. Many of those that do not currently own any electric vehicles also indicated they had plans to invest in the new vehicles in the near future - suggesting significantly higher ownership potential one or two years from now.
These results represent great news for the academic sector and reveal how forward-thinking university asset and fleet managers are (in addition to their willingness to invest in new green technologies from an early stage of its popularity).
