Mind Crowned Mace Foundation "Charity of the Year for 2016"
To bring Mace's 25th year celebrations to a close, the Mace Foundation has run a Charity of the Year campaign. This has seen over 2,000 employees around the world cast their vote for which charity they would like to see crowned, Mace Foundation Charity of the Year for 2016.
The votes have been counted, and we are delighted to announce that mental health charity, Mind, has scooped the employee vote and will become our Charity of the Year for 2016.
Mind is the leading mental health charity in England and Wales and provides information so people can make their own choices and access the treatment and support that are right for them - be it online, in print or via its helplines. The charity's network of almost 150 local Minds support 400,000 people each year through services such as counselling, back to work mentoring and therapy. More than 50,000 people call Mind's Infoline each year and, since it was launched in 2013, demand for its online peer-support community, Elefriends has increased far beyond anyone's expectations with more than 30,000 people receiving support.
As part of the launch as Mace Foundation Charity of the Year 2016, the Mace Foundation will make a donation of £25k to Mind. This donation will enable Mind to offer information and advice to 3,012 people, supporting them to take the first step towards better managing their mental health.
Chairman of Mace Foundation, Mark Reynolds, said: "I'm delighted that Mace employees overwhelmingly voted for Mind as our Charity of the Year for 2016. Mental health is an increasingly important issue for the industry, as well as for us at Mace. This partnership means that we can not only better support our people but also provide much needed funds for the charity's wider programme of work."
On becoming Mace Foundation Charity of the Year, Kathleen Miles, Director of Fundraising at Mind said "We're delighted that Mace have chosen to support Mind as the Mace Foundation Charity of the Year 2016 and the organisation is jumpstarting the partnership with a very generous £25k donation. We look forward to having fun raising vital funds together over the year, which will help us reach a point where anyone feels able to ask for, and access, the help they need. Money raised will fund our work such as the Mind Infoline, information and advice services, and the campaigning we do to secure a better deal everybody who experiences a mental health problem."
Over the course of 2016, the Mace Foundation will work with Mind on quarterly campaigns to raise mental health awareness across Mace sites and offices, as well as provide volunteering opportunities and fundraising events for employees to get involved in.
