BIFM Risk Management Guide

BIFM has revised its Risk Management Good Practice Guide for the facilities management profession.

BIFM has updated its Risk Management Good Practice Guide for the facilities management (FM) profession.

The 'Risk Management' Good Practice Guide from BIFM is the latest to have undergone a refresh to ensure it remains current.
The objective of good risk management is to assess the risks, both positive and negative, in order to control them. Rather than a one-off exercise, risk management should be a constant and developing process. As such, this updated guide covers risk and its management within FM, advising that risks need to be put into a context that a business understands and is happy to work in, being mindful of the consequences.

The guide's author, Greg Davies from Assurity Consulting said "risk remains one of the fundamental management activities for facilities managers. From regulatory compliance based activities such as health, safety and environment, through security and operations to relocation, contracts and contractors/suppliers, all have potential risks - be they legal, moral, financial or reputational.
"Understanding and investing in the right level of risk management and control is therefore imperative to the success of the organisation and the FM. This BIFM Good Practice Guide is aimed at providing information to support this process".
The Risk Good Practice Guide is part of a suite of 20 guides which are free to BIFM members and available for purchase by non-members. Other titles include Energy Audits, Recycling and Waste Management, and Business Continuity.
