G4S to Sell UK Children's Services Business
G4S plc, the world's leading integrated security company, today confirmed that as part of its on-going review of its portfolio of businesses, it has commenced a process to sell its UK Children's Services business, comprising 13 children's homes and its contracts to manage two Secure Training Centres (which are responsible for detaining and training young people aged from 12 to 17 who meet the criteria for a custodial sentence, or who are remanded to custody) at Medway and Oakhill.
The wellbeing and education of the children in our care will remain our priority until such time as an orderly transition to a new operator has been completed.
G4S UK Children's Services had revenues of approximately £40 million in the year to December 2015.
The transfer or sale of certain businesses is subject to customary consents and approvals.
