End of 38th Edition of CIFF in Shanghai

The 38th Edition of FM Industry partner event the China International Furniture Fair (CIFF) has concluded in Shanghai after affirming its status as the biggest event for the global furniture industry with a record 85,000 professional visitors (10,000 more than the previous edition) who including buyers, dealers, designers, architects, real estate operators, developers and journalists from more than 30 countries worldwide.

All were attracted by the considerable number of products on display from more than 2,000 exhibiting companies; and by the infrastructure installed by CIFF to facilitate business relations between exhibitors and visitors - including facilities for B2B meetings of more than 100 delegates and 48 forums and events organised to share information about the Chinese and international furniture markets.

CIFF Shanghai 2016 which took place from 7 to 10 September, was located for the second time in the ultra-new National Exhibition and Convention Center in Hongqiao, covering a surface area of more then 400,000 square metres. According to the figures available, and the impressions of the exhibitors and visitors, the event is undergoing constant growth, proving to be an indispensable occasion for all sector operators, who were able to benefit from a range of products that is increasingly focused on quality, design and innovation.

There were many, unexpected new developments. First of all, in addition to the usual CIFF commodity sectors (Home Design, Modern Home Furniture, Classical Home Furniture, Homedecor & Hometextile, Outdoor & Leisure, Office Furniture, Hotel Furniture, Furniture Machinery & Furniture Raw Materials), some new, innovative categories have been added, such as smart household appliances, 3D printers and healthcare assistance furnishing, therefore demonstrating renewed focus on the demands of a constantly developing market.

With the aim of providing the best possible service, and ensuring contents that are interesting at all levels, more than 40 content-packed events were organised, of which the East Design Show definitely stands out. Now in its second edition, this event, designed and curated by Zhu Xiaojie, Hou Zhangguang and Song Jianming, by involving the best Asian design brands, academies, designers and the media, created a captivating exhibition, making a strong cultural contribution, and based on the careful selection of well-designed, high-quality furniture, designed by both renowned designers and emerging young talents.

The Office Life Theme Pavilion housed futuristic workspaces, where ergonomic, ecological and aesthetic concepts were highlighted and treated as elements that are now essential for living and working to the best level possible.

The conventions included the popular China Furniture CEO Forum, analysing the future of the furnishing industry, the 7th Global Office Furniture Outlook, which this year focussed on how cheerful and stimulating workspaces make a positive impact on employee performance.

In addition to this, thanks to the partnership inaugurated last year between CIFF and High Point Market, there was the first edition of the Pinnacle Awards China Tour conducted in collaboration with the American Society of Furniture Designers: an event, divided into Pinnacle Awards History Review, the exhibition dedicated to the history of American furnishing design, the Pinnacle Awards Selected Winners Show, or, in other words, the exhibition of the prize-winning products of the competition linked to the Salon of Dialogue between Chinese & American Designers, the main forum along with other, smaller conventions.
