Relining a Micro-brewery Tank
When a Glasgow-based micro-brewery needed to replace the interior coating protecting a vessel with a diameter of 3.25 metres (10.7 feet), it turned to Belzona who had provided pipework maintenance solutions.
Douglas Potts, Field Sales Engineer for Belzona UK, says: "The Maintenance Manager discussed their vessel lining issue and we were happy to propose our solutions for further testing. Sample plates were required to taint test the Belzona coating, whilst a "supply and fit" proposal from our application arm, Belzona Technosol, also had to go through vetting and approval. Our recommendation, Belzona 5892, passed with flying colours."
Minimising Disruption
To minimise disruption, a Belzona 5892 coating was applied by hand in order to allow the vessel to remain in-situ. The WRAS-approved system did not require specialist equipment, and infrared heaters were deployed to conveniently reduce cure time.
Belzona is currently in discussions with the brewery about the coating requirements of future tanks.
