According to data from online retailer, Tea and Coffee, employees spend time equivalent to £27,500 in salaries making hot drinks over the typical working lifetime.
Online survey data also revealed the following breakdown by industry:
Tea and Coffee were able to deduce from this study that people working in the accountancy profession spend the most time away from their workstations making hot beverages, with total brewing time calculated at £42,000 per person.
People within the Video, Film & TV industry cost their companies the least amount of "cuppa money" over their working lifetime at just over £21,000.
Employees located in The City of Westminster in London and Harlow in Essex spend more time at the kettle than those in Thornton-Cleveleys in Wyre and Felling, Tyne and Wear.
