A new version of Flyability's Elios 3 drone supports remote identification and pilot registration requirements coming into effect for unmanned aircraft in the United States on 16th September.
For manufacturers, building compliant drones became an obligation following the announcement of the new rule last year, which replaces an agreement exempting manufacturers of UAVs designed predominantly for indoor use from FAA regulation but prohibiting the use of drones outdoors.
Elios 3 has been deployed successfully for multiple indoor and outdoor applications, including inspecting and mapping offshore pipe racks, surveying radioactive waste structures, and inspecting bridges and culverts.
Flyability's latest incarnation of the drone, the Elios 3 RID, has been developed in consultation with the FAA to ensure it operates in areas without GPS signals
