A partnership between EMCOR UK and Access Community Trust (ACT) is creating employment, supporting a local community, and improving wellbeing and mental wellbeing at the British Sugar plant in Kings Lynn, Norfolk.
EMCOR, which provides integrated facility services at the plant, reports recruiting two individuals as a result of the collaboration which has renovated the local Steam Café, transforming it into a welcoming environment for members of the community to access employment-related and personal support.
Significantly, ACT's involvement is also credited with a 50 per cent reduction in absenteeism involving EMCOR employees at the factory which has been attributed to improved mental health support.
A substantial proportion of EMCOR UK's workforce has undergone essential mental health training.
Additionally, eight employees participated in an intensive two-day mental health awareness program in conjunction with ACT.
The partnership's impact has been quantified through EMCOR UK's collaboration with the Social Value Portal, yielding a cumulative social value exceeding £70,000.

This encompasses volunteer hours, donations, job opportunities, mental health training, and the sharing of the UK's Apprenticeship Levy.
