Zurich Airport owner Flughafen Zürich AG is upgrading its explosives and narcotics detection capabilities with a solution from Bruker.
Sixty next-gen DE-tector flex devices will replace the existing solution at Switzerland's busiest airport in 2024 and 2025.
First-generation Bruker ETD detectors are currently deployed at Geneva Airport.
By wiping surfaces with multi-use, disposable swabs, and inserting them into the DE-tector flex, operators can identify two classes of explosives and narcotics within seconds.

The solution, which uses a non-radioactive ionization source, is certified by the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC).
