The University of Leeds is consolidating waste management and introducing a more unified approach to tackling carbon emissions following the award of a contract to Mitie.
With an initial period of two years, the new contract includes an option to extend by a further year.
Mitie will deliver waste management at the university’s central campus and other sites in and around the city, supporting the reduction of waste through enhanced recycling and the re-use of resources.
The services provider's sustainability credentials are expected to play a key role in supporting the university’s Climate Plan, which includes an ambition to reach net zero emissions by 2030 and a commitment to reduce single-use plastics.
