AMETEK Land has launched VIRALERT 3, a screening solution to detect elevated body temperature associated with Covid-19 and other infectious diseases.
The system, which has been under development for a decade, provides real-time infrared thermal imaging from a safe social distance by combining a camera with a temperature-controlled reference source on a single wall mounting,
VIRALERT 3 deploys automatic detection to identify the best facial areas for temperature measurement before taking a reading to an accurate of within 0.5o Centigrade. A target's core body temperature is calculated with a rapid test procedure that is completed in around two seconds.
It can be set to operate automatically, with audible and visual alarms alerting security operators when high temperatures are discovered.
Developed for high-traffic areas the solution is being targeted for at hospitals and healthcare facilities, commercial areas, education facilities and public spaces, transportation entry points, offices and manufacturing locations, and sports and leisure sites.
AMETEK has been developing high-accuracy infrared measurement instruments since 1947, and launched its first human body temperature screening systems in response to the 2003 SARS outbreak in Asia.
