FCC Partners with Tent to Recruit Ukrainian Refugees

FCC Group holding company, FCC Medio Ambiente, has committed to supporting the Tent Partnership for Refugees initiative in Spain by recruiting significant new numbers of Ukrainian refugees.

The company's latest initiative was confirmed at a signing event attended by Amaia Elizalde, director of Tent Spain and Luis Suárez, Head of Human Resources for FCC Medio Ambientein in Madrid, and builds on a previous agreement between the global environmental services provider and the Spanish Commission for Refugee Aid (CEAR) to recruit refugees displaced as a result of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.

A fundraising campaign by FCC staff in December and January has also resulted in a recent delivery of basic humanitarian supplies to Ukraine's border with Poland.

Elizalde says: "We are delighted that FCC Medio Ambiente has joined Tent.

It is crucial for refugees to have economic independence in their host countries, and for this to happen, they need to be able to access decent jobs.

"Exactly a year since the beginning of the conflict in Ukraine and with more than 160,000 Ukrainian refugees in Spain, it is especially important that the private sector in our country takes a step forward to support the labour inclusion of refugees, following the example of FCC Medio Ambiente".

As more and more refugees are displaced for long periods of time, businesses have a key role to play in helping their economic integration within new communities.

The Tent Partnership for Refugees was formed in 2016 by Hamdi Ulukaya, the founder and CEO of Chobani (a large U.S. food company) to mobilise the global business community to improve the lives and livelihoods of the more than 36 million refugees who have been forced to flee their home countries.

Today, Tent is a network of more than 300 major companies committed to refugee inclusion.
