Compass Group procurement business Foodbuy has retained its contract with NHS Supply Chain as the central resource for sourcing and procuring food across the publicly funded healthcare system.
The new contract, which comes into effect in July, was awarded as part of the NHS Supply Chain ‘Operating Model implementation’ programme which sets out the design of a new NHS Supply Chain service as it looks to deliver greater value.
Foodbuy has been Category Tower Provider for food to NHS Supply Chain since 2018, with a dedicated team working to optimise the organisation's supply base and leverage its scale and purchasing power to deliver quality products and added services.
The company says it has delivered over £10 million in savings for the NHS since the partnership's launch.
In 2020 culinary experts, Nick Vadis and Stephen England, established The Chef’s Academy on behalf of NHS Supply Chain: Food, after Foodbuy identifying a gap in training and resources for NHS chefs.
The award-winning academy has helped develop the skills and culinary knowledge of chefs, offering an opportunity for them to feel a sense of community and pride within their roles, whilst attracting and retaining staff through continued professional development (CPD)..
