Metsä Tissue, a subsidiary of the Metsä Group which is headquartered in Espoo, Finland, is joining German research network "Modellfabrik Papier in Düren" as a shareholding partner.
The network supports emissions-free paper production with the objective of achieving 80% energy savings and climate neutrality in paper manufacturing by 2045, thereby aligning with the objectives of the Paris Agreement.

Metsä Tissue's participation as an official shareholder strengthens the interdisciplinary research network, which encompasses industrial enterprises and academic institutions in Germany, complementing its existing network in Finland.

The construction of a new state-of-the-art building for Modellfabrik Papier in Düren is planned by 2025.
Furthering the organisation's research objectives and adopting the latest environmental standards, the facility will drive innovative solutions for paper production and additionally address similar challenges faced by other industries.
