Sustainable Fly Defence
Rentokil Pest Control has launched a non-toxic solution to address the impact of rising fly populations on hospitality and manufacturing businesses in the summer months.
With liquid and food waste commonly attracting a range of fly species, customers and employees can be left at risk from harmful illnesses and diseases including food poisoning, Salmonella, and E.coli.
If left uncontrolled, flies can breed rapidly in venues such as restaurants, hotels, or cafes, especially if there are nearby sources of food, rubbish bins, or stagnant standing water.
Infestations of these flies can have serious impacts on businesses, leading to negative customer experiences, food safety violations, potential legal issues, and in turn loss of revenue.
Research by the company suggests 45 per cent of businesses that have suffered fly infestations in the past five years report a high or moderate concern about loss of income.
The non-toxic EcoCatch Fly control unit is described as a "professional solution to reduce the risk of fly infestations in all outdoor settings".
Flies can be a significant point of concern for businesses
With a wide range of installation options for fixing to walls, poles or ceiling fittings, the unit hides captured flies, making it more aesthetically pleasing and reduces the risk of unpleasant odours.
It can also be repositioned and reused repeatedly and is made from 30% recycled plastic.
"It is imperative that business owners tackle the issue before an infestation occurs by prioritising proper sanitation practices, regular inspections, and implementing pest control measures.”
