Championing the Living Wage
Compass Group UK & Ireland has been awarded the Living Wage Champion Award in the 'Recognised Service Provider' category of the Living Wage Foundation's annual awards.
The Living Wage, set by the foundation, includes both a UK rate and a London rate.
It differs from the UK's National Living Wage as it takes account of inflation and other indices related to the cost of living.
As of 2023/24, the UK Living Wage stands at £10.90 per hour, while the London Living Wage is set at £11.95 per hour.
Compass Group UK & Ireland is committed to ensuring thousands of its employees receive the 'real' Living Wage and has been a strong advocate and supporter of the Foundation's cause, collaborating with over 300 client organisations to facilitate the transition to Living Wage contracts.
I warmly congratulate Compass Group UK & Ireland on their well-deserved award.
According to the group, an additional 20,000 employees have received the real Living Wage or above since October 2021, with its sports and leisure business, Levy UK, achieving the milestone of becoming a 100 per cent Living Wage Sector employer in January 2023.
Corinna Refsgaard, Group Chief People & Culture Officer at Compass, highlights the importance of a positive workplace culture.
She says: "The results confirm the importance of creating a safe and positive workplace culture that should be integrated into every workplace decision, process, and solution."
Katherine Chapman, Director of the Living Wage Foundation, adds: "I warmly congratulate Compass Group UK & Ireland on their well-deserved award."
