"Emergency Preparedness for Critical Facilities: What you need to know" will be held on October 21

Critical Facilities Summit, the only event focused exclusively on the design and management of mission critical facilities, has announced the keynote panel session for the 2013 event: "Emergency Preparedness for Critical Facilities: What you need to know." The keynote panel session will address emergency preparedness and how data center managers can keep their facilities operational in the midst of a crisis.

The keynote panelists are:

· Terry Gillick, Division President, Primary Integration Solutions

· Sean Ahrens, CPP, CSC, Global Practice Leader for Security Consulting and Design Services, Aon Global Risk Consulting

· Timothy Lisle, AIA, Partner, Jacobs Wyper

· Edward Sullivan, Editor, Building Operating Management magazine

This panel presentation is one of 25 educational sessions at the Critical Facilities Summit, a new conference and product expo for facilities professionals, consulting engineers and design build firms responsible for data center and other mission critical facilities. Providing unique data center facilities training, the Summit will be held at the Charlotte Convention center in Charlotte, N.C. October 21-23, 2013.

"The truth is that every organization is vulnerable to some type of natural disaster or emergency situation. In the case of mission critical, failure isn't an option under any circumstance," said Edward Sullivan, editor of Building Operating Management magazine and moderator for the panel discussion. "We are thrilled to open the inaugural Critical Facilities Summit with this session and are eager to hear our panel's insights into the importance of highly-detailed emergency preparedness planning."

This panel session will feature a variety of viewpoints in an in-depth discussion about the issues that must be considered for ongoing critical facility operations in the midst of a crisis, be it a fire, hurricane, security breach or power failure.

Attendees will:

  • Review criteria for emergency preparedness and resilience
  • Discuss the role of government standards in critical facilities site selection
  • Understand the importance of creating, maintaining, and testing a contingency plan specific to mission critical facilities
  • Identify lessons learned from crises, and how to apply them to future disasters that could affect an organization
