JLL Launches Employee Resource Group to Recruit and Hire Veterans
VetNet connects military employees with resources for career growth.
JLL (NYSE: JLL) today launched VetNet, an employee resource group focused on recruiting and supporting veterans. JLL sees the 1 million military veterans returning from service this year as part of a talent pool who can offer unique skills that mesh with JLL's diverse hiring requirements. VetNet will contribute to creating an environment that helps veterans succeed in the civilian workforce.
"Getting the private sector involved with our military and veterans is going around the country in a very healthy way, and JLL is at the heart of it," said JLL Board Member and Americas Executive Chairman Roger Staubach, who also served in the U.S. Navy. "Veterans represent the best of all of us: they understand teamwork, loyalty, trust, hard work and perseverance. We at JLL are very fortunate that we are able to attract veterans to our great organization, and we are able to do it because we value the qualities veterans have."
The VetNet leadership team is comprised of executives across the United States who have personal connections to the military by either serving themselves or having a family member on active duty. The leadership team oversees VetNet's four committees to drive the ERG's strategy:
- Professional Development: identify strategies to connect veteran employees with career opportunities and tools to grow at JLL
- Education and Awareness: build an understanding for what it means to be a veteran, and what challenges face them as they transition from active duty to private citizens in the corporate environment
- Recruiting: position JLL as an employer of choice for veterans
- Connections: connect veterans internally with one another
"What sets VetNet apart from other employee groups is that all employees - regardless of age, cultural identification or background - can identify a connection to our country's veterans in some way," said Linda Bolan, JLL International Director and VetNet co-executive sponsor. "Each generation in the professional world has seen military men and women return to the workforce from active duty and knows the exceptional skills they offer. We look forward to supporting veterans' careers by creating opportunities now and in the future."
