TOTAL FACILITIES OFFERS SNEAK PEEK OF SYDNEY’S NEW INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION CENTRE

Centre, scheduled to officially open in December 2016, is set to be Australia's premier integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct.

Australia's facilities management community will be given a special preview of the highly anticipated International Convention Centre Sydney (ICC Sydney) during next month's Total Facilities event at Sydney's Glebe Island.

ICC Sydney General Manager, Adam Mather-Brown, said the centre is scheduled to officially open in December 2016 and is set to be Australia's premier integrated convention, exhibition and entertainment precinct. ICC Sydney will be Mr Mather-Brown's fifth major convention centre and third for parent company AEG Ogden.

"The planning and preparation for an international venue of the scale and importance of ICC Sydney is immensely exciting as we are laying the foundations for an asset that will benefit the community for decades to come," Mr Mather-Brown said.

"Capitalising on our inner-city location, ICC Sydney's smart, contemporary design delivers more event space and optimised usability."

Mr Mather-Brown is the keynote speaker at the Total Facilities seminar program and will provide an overview of the key features designed to enhance the end user experience at the new centre.

Total Facilities Event Manager, David Skilton, said the event's seminar program would host both local and international speakers and deliver practical information to assist with operating facilities more effectively and efficiently.

"There will be two seminar stages. The Main Stage Seminar Theatre covers a broad range of topics including building information modelling and contract management, while the High Performance Buildings Theatre offers targeted education sessions on improving energy and resource efficiencies to create a more sustainable building," Mr Skilton said.

"Facilities managers will be able to use the seminar sessions as a platform to raise their respective challenges and opportunities through a Q and A with the industry's leading experts."

Notable speakers at this year's Total Facilities seminar program include:

• The Energy Efficiency Council's Luke Menzel, who will be discussing professionals you can trust to deliver comprehensive building retrofits;

• BuildingIQ's Peter Dickinson, who will introduce a case study on creating cash flow in high performance buildings; and

• Contract Control International's George Strohfeldt, who will discuss a skills model for successful contract management.

Individuals can register to attend the Total Facilities exhibition and seminar for free, which is being held at Sydney Exhibition Centre, Glebe Island, from Wednesday March 25 to Thursday March 26.
