Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel blows away show visitors

Mitsubishi Electric is reporting its most successful ever attendance at the Facilities Show, held this June in London's ExCel Centre.

Interest in the Jet Towel, the company's innovative high-speed hand dryer was higher than ever, with more enquiries and, in many cases, detailed discussions.

Jet Towel uses high velocity laminar air flow to blow moisture from just-washed hands, rather than the conventional technique of evaporating it with hot air. As a result it dries hands from only 9 seconds, three to four times faster than evaporative solutions, is energy efficient and ultra hygienic.

"One of the key design features is that Jet Towel incorporates a drip tray," explains Mitsubishi Electric's Fawn Litchfield. "This captures all the water that comes off users' hands for disposal, which ensures hygiene and means there is never an unsightly puddle on the floor beneath the dryer."

Another feature that many show visitors commented on was the low noise levels of Jet Towel in operation. This was particularly noted compared to the ambient noise from the show floor and other stands. In fact, Mitsubishi Electric Jet Towel has an operating sound level of 58-61dB, while many other high-speed dryers exceed 80dB. Because the decibel scale is logarithmic, this difference is actually threefold. Further, the Jet Towel does not produce the high and low frequency sounds that can be particularly irritating to people.

This year the Facilities Show attracted about 10,000 visitors and there were about 300 exhibition stands. Fawn's colleague Garry Lewis says he was very impressed with the event: "Many of the people who came to our stand had definite requirements for hand dryers and were keen to learn about Jet Towel. Their main requirements could be summed up as, quiet, efficient and non-drip. "I was particularly impressed when one visitor called Jet Towel a 'design classic'."
