Highest Levels of Health & Safety
Winder Power, the leading UK manufacturer of power and distribution transformers, has been announced as a Gold award winner in the prestigious annual Occupational Health and Safety Awards 2016, hosted by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA). Building on the Silver award that Winder Power received last year, this Gold award reflects the company's continued commitment to workplace safety and unwavering focus on improving their health and safety performance. The coveted award will be presented to the team as part of the official ceremony at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel on July 13-14, 2016.
Winder Power's record of consecutive days without a reportable accident resulting in lost work time for any of the technicians, engineers or other personnel recently passed 1,250 days and is still climbing today. This record extends back to 2012 and encompasses all of Winder Power's projects across the UK and worldwide, as well as within their own state-of-the-art factory in Leeds.
Consistently putting health and safety at the forefront of their priorities, Winder Power have a long standing and comprehensive health and safety policy in place, striving to provide the safest working environment for staff. With a commitment to continuously improve safety, this award is even more impressive when you consider the highly technical and challenging environment that Winder Power operate in.
The award comes at an exciting time for the company who recently announced the significant appointment of Keith Robertshaw to the role of Group Manufacturing Director. Keith will have executive responsibility for the company's health and safety performance, in addition to production, procurement and the quality and environmental systems.
As the UK's family safety charity, RoSPA's mission to save lives and reduce injuries covers all ages and stages of life. In support of this mission, the RoSPA Awards, which date back 59 years, recognise commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, which is open to businesses and organisations of all types and sizes from across the UK and overseas, judges consider entrants' overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
