Leading ABM UK's Sustainability Agenda

ABM (NYSE:ABM), a leading provider of facility solutions, has appointed Tracy Carey to its senior leadership team to direct the company's sustainability practices.

Carey will be responsible for overseeing ABM UK's sustainability strategy, which will support the company's nationwide contracts. She will also ensure that ABM UK's and its clients' environmental performances are continually above industry standards.

ABM has built a strong reputation by continually striving to improve its service offerings, and proactively works with its clients on a wide range of sustainability initiatives, from energy reduction to green cleaning and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.

Through its GreenCare® programme, ABM focuses on products, tools, equipment, processes and policies, and promotes a healthier and more comfortable environment for buildings' occupants, while significantly reducing any harm done to the environment.

On her appointment, Carey commented: "I'm joining ABM UK at an exciting time, and have been impressed by the emphasis the company places on sustainability. The current leadership team needs little convincing about the importance that sustainability plays in the modern-day corporate environment, and I am relishing the opportunities and challenges that I will face.

Carey continued: "ABM UK's sustainability policy is championed from the very top, which has had a profoundly positive effect on baseline knowledge and understanding amongst the company's technicians. My continual aims will be to maintain that 100% compliance is standard behaviour throughout the business, and that we are getting the best possible value from our supply chains through collaboration and innovation."

Carey began her career at Cancer Research UK before moving on to Lloyds Banking Group. She then honed her skills as an environmental advisor for support services company, Enterprise PLC - acquired by Amey's parent company, Ferrovial in 2013 - which gave her the opportunity to gain knowledge in consulting, highways infrastructure, utilities, rail, transportation, defence services, waste management and housing.

Carey then moved to construction giant, BAM Nuttall, where, following the London 2012 Games, she advised on the environmental impact of the transformation of the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, with a particular focus on its flood relief zone. Carey played a key role in building important and long standing relationships with the regulating bodies to overcome many challenges around legal compliance and stakeholder engagement.

Carey joins ABM UK from her previous role as sustainability manager at global construction firm, Mace. During her time at Mace, Carey managed a wide range of diverse consultancy projects ranging from implementation of waste strategies, to bespoke air quality management, along with leading wider sustainability planning for flagship projects. These included the restoration of the iconic Battersea Power Station; the development of the Chelsea Barracks site; and the striking extension to the Tate Modern.
