April Inauguration for Future Cities Show

The UAE Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Dubai Land Department have announced the inaugural edition of the 'Future Cities Show' will take place from 2 to 4 April, during a press conference attended by His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development; HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, Dubai Land Department; HE Faris Saeed, Chairman of The Sustainable City; HE Hassan Al Mansouri, Acting Under-Secretary, Ministry of Infrastructure Development; and Mr. Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of Strategic and Head of the organisation committee of the new show.

"Today we are announcing the debut of the Future Cities Show 2017 which will be held under the theme of 'Sustainability, Innovation and Happiness' with the objective of establishing how leading cities can surpass today's realities in the future by promoting happiness and better wellbeing", said His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi, Minister of Infrastructure Development.

"We aim to build future cities powered by the latest technologies as well as renewable energy solutions. Building these cities can help make societies more advanced, civilised and sustainable. They can also achieve economic growth that is based on strong foundations, making people happier," added HE Dr. Abdullah bin Mohammed Belhaif Al Nuaimi.

"The Future Cities Show is a global platform for companies and organisations engaged in developing an advanced infrastructure all over the world. It will also attract big investors and those who have creative and innovative ideas to build the future cities from the economic, technological and environmental aspects. This show can consolidate once more the status of the UAE and Dubai as international hub for innovation and creativity as tools for a better future," said Dr. Al Nuaimi, before observing:

"The UAE is witnessing huge developments in various areas. We are committed to keep up with the latest developments and anticipating challenges in all vital sectors. We are determined to face these challenges and work on achieving advancements at various levels. To achieve this, we will need cities that are more energy efficient, and to build modern roads, buildings and facilities so we can guarantee continued growth whilst emphasising environmental conversation".

The UAE Minister of Infrastructure Development also expressed his desire for a successful first edition of the Future Cities Show.

"Dubai Land Department is a strategic partner of the inaugural Future Cities Show, since its objectives match our vision of innovation, trust and happiness. Our objective is to make future cities based on sustainable development foundations. Dubai is a perfect example of the way to plan future cities; the vision of the leadership and Dubai Clean Energy Strategy 2050 ensure that we are going on the right path to build safe and sustainable future," said HE Sultan Butti Bin Mejren, Director General, Dubai Land Department.

"Under the directive of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai started to focus on sustainability as a key principle for the strategy of the future. The Sustainable City of Dubai came as the first sustainable community in the region, and the pioneering residential projects producing clean energy in Dubai. We are happy to be part of the Future Cities show to exchange experience with all concerned parties," commented HE Faris Saeed, Chairman of The Sustainable City.

"We are happy to be organising the inaugural edition of the show and also happy with the huge response we are getting from private and public sector companies. These objectives support the UAE's Energy Strategy 2050 and UAE Vsion 2021 programmes. The Future Cities Show will guarantee the best environmental practices to reduce the carbon footprint, and guarantee less pollution and better luxury for the residents of these cities. We hope to see best innovations exhibited by participants as these are going to shape the future for generations", commented Dawood Al Shezawi, Chairman of Strategic Marketing and Exhibitions and Head of the organising committee for the new show.

The Future Cities Show is an international platform where all the companies which services pertain with infrastructure development from all over the world can gather, alongside with investors, and all those who have creative ideas to build the future cities from all the technological, environmental and economic aspects.

The organising committee is keen to attract experts who work in relevant fields - including city designers, decision makers, officials and key players in energy field. These experts are going to discuss the challenges cities face in modernising.

The show will also feature futuristic designs that can help generate energy, preserve electricity and water consumption up to the latest international sustainable standards.
