Charting A Brighter Future

In a little over a year since its establishment by the Lighting Industry Association (LIA), the Lighting Industry Academy has established itself as one of Europe's leading providers of continuing professional development (CPD) and training courses to the lighting industry.

28th September 2016 saw the Lighting Industry Academy (the Academy) open its doors to the lighting industry with the aim of becoming a central learning hub.

A year later, the Academy is proud to have taught over 800 students at its purpose-built facility in Telford, after creating a learning portfolio encompassing the full spectrum of lighting.

With recent revisions, the Lighting Industry Association (LIA) Certificate has evolved to meet the challenges that are facing the industry today. Its new modular format has already seen a 57 per cent increase in students and is perfect for those embarking on a career in lighting, also those in the industry looking to further develop their skills and knowledge.

To complement the courses the Academy have an expert arsenal of tutors, from LIA professionals to some of the most respected names in the industry. All supported by Academy Ambassadors, championing the Academy's vision and goals.

The Academy's first 12 months culminated in welcoming the inaugural class of its industry defining Higher National Certificate (HNC) course in Lighting Design and Technology which was the first qualification at that level in the United Kingdom, and is taught by the LIA and University of South Wales (USW) with key players including OSRAM and Holophane Europe enrolling students.

The HNC like all Academy courses, is structured to attract new talent and develop existing careers within all sectors of the lighting industry.
