Vacherin Introduces Free Range Milk Across All Sites

London-based contract caterer Vacherin has announced it is to switch to using and serving free range milk across its portfolio of client sites.

Currently, British dairy farmers are under increasing pressure to intensify their farming methods. The use of free range milk ensures that dairy cows get to enjoy their traditional diet of grass and hay, promotes an enhanced farming environment and provides a premium to farmers.

Vacherin also recently received its sustainability score from the Sustainable Restaurant Association (SRA), earning the highest three-star rating with an impressive 82 per cent overall. The breakdown also showed Vacherin scoring 98 per cent on the use of global farmers and 93 for supporting the local community.

Carol Lever, director at the Free Range Dairy Network has said "Once again, Vacherin is leading the way, by choosing to convert all of the milk they use to Pasture Promise free range milk. Not only are they the only London contract caterer sourcing 'Pasture Promise' milk, but they are also demonstrating their commitment to a farming system and supports traditional British dairy farms."

Tom Tanner of the Sustainable Restaurant Association has said "Responsible foodservice businesses have been serving their customers ethically sourced coffee for some years now. Really sustainable operators, such as Vacherin, recognise that milk makes up a huge part of most coffees, and are switching to a product that's good for cows, the land, farmers and the planet. Vacherin customers can now enjoy their lattes just that little bit more knowing they're made with free range milk."
