The accolades highlight the commitment of the public healthcare system in Harris County, Texas, to providing life-saving treatment and facilities for heart and stroke patients in the community.

LBJ Hospital, on the other hand, has received the 2023 national honor in heart care with the Get With The Guidelines Resuscitation Silver Award and Get With The Guidelines Heart Failure Silver Plus Award, including the Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll.

The Get With The Guidelines® Gold Plus Achievement Awards received by the hospitals ensure that heart failure patients receive appropriate treatment according to nationally recognized, research-based guidelines.
Ben Taub Hospital achieved an impressive goal of treating patients with 85% or higher compliance to core standard levels of care outlined by the American Heart Association (AHA) for three consecutive calendar years.
Hospitals like LBJ Hospital, which receive silver-level or higher achievement awards in Get With The Guidelines - Heart Failure, must achieve an overall diabetes cardiovascular initiative composite score of 75% or greater.
Additionally, hospitals receiving the Get With The Guidelines Silver Performance Award have demonstrated adherence to core standard levels of care outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association for one calendar year.
In addition to its stroke care capabilities, Ben Taub Hospital is certified as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by DNV Healthcare.
This certification confirms that the hospital meets or surpasses quality achievement measures for the diagnosis and treatment of stroke patients.
These measures include the appropriate use of medications and other stroke treatments aligned with the latest evidence-based guidelines, aiming to expedite recovery and reduce death and disability rates.
