Ireland's Heath Service Executive (HSE) has selected ABM for a €10 million cleaning services contract at University Hospital Galway, Merlin Park University Hospital (MPUH), the Adult Acute Mental Health Unit (AAMHU) and five administration buildings in Galway City.
Mobilisation of the contract is already underway with 350 cleaning staff transferring from the previous service provider to ABM and an experienced ABM team, a month prior to the changeover.
A Waiting List Initiative from Ireland's Department of Health includes a pledge to shorten waiting lists by making cleaning operatives available for out of hours clinics, and ABM will invest €1 million in equipment, new uniforms, training and infrastructure to support the pledge.
Innovations to be introduced include the deployment of smart scanning technology on all equipment to support infection control and streamline operational workflow.
ABM will also roll out extensive training programmes and protocols for cleaning operatives, and its 'Step Up' Programme which is designed to support structured career progression.
The contract caters additionally for the provision of integrated cleaning and sanitisation services at MPUH's newly opened outpatients’ department and cystic fibrosis unit, and critical environments including operating theatres and intensive care units.
